ERIC BASS worked for five years with Jean Erdmanšs Theater of the Open Eye in NY as a designer, director and performer. He left the company in 1980 to create his own solo production, Autumn Portraits. In 1983, he founded the Sandglass Theater in Munich, Germany. Its production of Sand (the first installment of the Heaven Trilogy) toured extensively to great acclaim and was eventually produced in The First New York International Festival of Arts. In 1986, Mr. Bass moved the company to Vermont. There, he produced Invitations to Heaven, which was presented at BAMšs 1991 Next Wave Festival. The Village Child is the final play of the Heaven Trilogy.
