HOBEY FORD is the creator of the Golden Rod Puppets. Born in Coastal Connecticut, Ford studied art at the State University of New York at Purchase. He founded the Golden Rod Puppets in the mountains of Western North Carolina in 1980. Since then he has performed internationally and has been a featured performer at international festivals for Children in Calgary, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. He performed in a month-long residency at the Smithsonian Museumıs Discovery Theatre, with workshops at the Kennedy Center, and has performed for his peers at the Puppeteers of Americas National Festival in Talequah, Oklahoma. Ford is a consultant to Puppeteers of America and has crafted puppets for many nationally known companies. His creations have appeared on North Carolina Public TV and MTV. Hobey Ford lives on a farm in Weaverville, NC with his wife and three children.
